Have you ever wondered why we should dance? Well, I have wondered about this myself, and as I grow older, I’m beginning to understand the answer.
When you begin to dance, something shifts inside you—quietly, almost secretly. The body, which once felt ordinary, becomes a vessel through which unseen worlds take shape. You create imagery, summon characters, and breathe a whole prasang into existence with nothing but movements. It is as if you paint stories in thin air that others can suddenly see and feel. And when they respond—when their eyes soften, when their applause rises—you realize that what you imagined has touched another consciousness. That realization is transformative. It gives you a confidence that is not loud or boastful, but steady and luminous: the confidence of knowing that your body can translate the unspoken, and your inner world has its own gravity. All of this unfolds unconsciously, yet with a beauty that feels innate.
Beyond the emotional rush and imaginative escape, dance pulls you back into the raw, intelligent power of your own body. Every movement becomes a conversation—your eyes tracking intention, your hands sculpting space, your feet marking rhythm like a signature only you can write. Muscles that once felt forgotten wake up with purpose. Strength doesn’t arrive with force, but grows quietly, naturally, like a tree finding its roots.
Dance gives back your vitality by reminding you that movement is the oldest language your body knows. It grounds you when the world overwhelms, electrifies you when energy runs low, and turns your physical self into a conscious partner rather than a tired passenger. In a life where we often remember our bodies only when they hurt, dance is the gentle, joyful way home.
And perhaps this is the reminder we need most urgently today. In an age where we chase money and fame like restless shadows, dance invites us to pause, to re-enter ourselves. It tells us that we do not need to become the next Michael Jackson or Gopikrishna to justify our movement. What matters is awareness—the understanding that dance offers benefits far beyond material achievement. We, as humans, have the rare ability to step outside Maslow’s hierarchy, to rearrange it, to choose meaning over mere survival. Through dance, we reclaim the possibility of a life that strives not just for success but for balance, beauty, and consciousness.
